1600 is the gematria of the following phrases.

  • "It came to pass after two years, and Pharaoh was dreaming..."<ref name=genesis1>Genesis 41:1</ref> (וַיְהִי מִקֵּץ שְׁנָתַיִם יָמִים וּפַרְעֹה חֹלֵם).
  • "Zion will be redeemed through justice and her returnees through righteousness"<ref name=isaiah1>Isaiah 1:27</ref> (צִיּוֹן בְּמִשְׁפָּט תִּפָּדֶה וְשָׁבֶיהָ בִּצְדָקָה).
  • "The commandment of God is pure, it enlightens the eyes"<ref name=psalms1>Psalms 19:9</ref> (מִצְוַת יְהֹוָה בָּרָה מְאִירַת עֵינָיִם).

In the Sages

  • 1600 is the sum of the values of the words "Shabbat" (שַׁבָּת), "Rosh Chodesh" (רֹאשׁ חֹדֶש), and "Milah" (מִילָה = circumcision). These are the three commandments that the Greeks tried to forbid the Jewish people from practicing, leading to the Hasmonean revolt.
